Hazardous & Electronic Waste
Hazardous and electronic waste is strictly prohibited from being landfilled, and must be handled separately from trash and recyclables. This includes all paints, thinners, pesticides, motor oil, fluorescent tubes and electronics such as televisions, monitors, and VCRs.
Certain Hazardous waste and e-Waste are accepted in designated areas of the Transfer station at no charge. These items include:
- Electronics (TVs, computers, stereo equipment, cell phones, etc.)
- Household and automotive batteries
- Motor oil and oil filters
- Fluorescent Light Bulbs
- Home generated sharps (Syringes and hypodermic needles must be properly packaged and sealed in an approved, puncture-proof container to be accepted)

Buy Back – Recycling (CRV)
We operate a California Redemption Value (CRV) beverage container buy-back program at this location.
Eligible CRV container items include:
- Beer and malt beverages
- Wine coolers and distilled spirit coolers
- Carbonated fruit drinks, water or soft drinks
- Non-carbonated fruit drinks, water, or soft drinks
- Coffee and tea beverages
- 100% fruit juice less than 46 oz.
- Vegetable juice 16 oz. or less
- Sports drinks
- Distilled spirits and wine (including sparkling and alcohol removed wine):
- Bag-in-Box/Bladder
- Paperboard Carton
- Multi-Layer Pouch
- Plastic Resins #1-7 Pouches

All items must have their original labels and be empty, clean, and dry. Please do not crush cans. A valid California ID is required.
Customers are limited to 100 pounds of aluminum maximum, 100 pounds of plastic maximum, 1,000 pounds of glass maximum, 50 pounds of bag-in-box beverage containers maximum, 25 pounds of multi-layer pouch containers, and 25 pounds of paperboard carton beverage containers maximum. Customers exceeding the daily limit will be turned away.

The CRV values are as follows:
- Containers less than 24 ounces = 5¢
- Containers 24 ounces or larger = 10¢
- Wine or Distilled Spirits in a box, bladder, or pouch, or similar container = 25¢

CRV Refunds per Container
By law, consumers can bring up to 50 aluminum, 50 glass, 50 plastic, and 50 bi-metal CRV containers in a single visit and request to be paid by count. Consumers will be paid the full CRV redemption of 5 cents, 10 cents, or 25 cents on each container. Prior to unloading, inform site attendant that payment should be per container.
CRV Refunds by Weight
If recycling more than 50 containers of any one material type, the decision to pay by count or weight is determined by the recycling center operator.

If the load includes containers not eligible for CRV, the recycling center must either reject the load or pay only scrap value.

Do you accept recyclables?
Yes! We accept the following recyclable material at no charge:
- Newspaper, cardboard, office paper, magazines, steel cans, food and beverage glass, plastic food and beverage containers
- Rigid plastic containers such as 5 gallon buckets, plastic storage containers, resin patio chairs and laundry baskets
- Scrap metal
- Motor oil and filters
- Automobile and household batteries
- Consumer electronics (televisions, computers, computer monitors, cell phones, printers, stereos and VCRs)
We accept the following recyclable material at for a fee:
- Small household appliances (toasters, blenders, mixers, etc.)
- Appliances (washers, dryers, refrigerators, freezers, water heaters, air conditioners, dishwashers and stoves). A fee for Freon removal may apply.
- Latex & Oil based paint

Do you accept furniture including mattresses?
Yes.
We accept furniture, foam mattresses, and dirty, wet, stained, or soiled mattresses for a fee.
Clean and dry non-foam mattresses are accepted for free.
Do you accept medical waste?
We only accept home-generated sharps. Syringes and hypodermic needles must be properly packaged and sealed in an approved, puncture-proof container to be accepted.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept cash, money orders and credit/debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express are accepted).
Do you buy metal?
We do accept scrap metal at this location for a fee, however, you may bring your metal to our scrap metal recycling facility.
We operate Tri County Scrap Metals located at 3515 Taylor Drive which is just down the street from the Ukiah Transfer Station. Tri County Scrap Metals buys a variety of metals including:
- Copper
- Brass
- Aluminum
- Radiators
- Insulated and clean wire
- Stainless steel
- Lead
Our facility operates in compliance with scrap metal regulations of the State of California. Customers will need to show proper identification before purchases can be made.

We do not sell compost or landscape materials at this location.
