To Start Service
- Residential customers must go to the City of Ukiah office located at 300 Seminary Avenue. The office is open 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. A valid picture I.D. and copy of your title or lease agreement is required. Once service has been started, customers must call Ukiah Waste Solutions at 1-888-718-4888 for service related issues and questions.
- Commercial customers must call us at 1-888-718-4888 to initiate service or visit us at 3515 Taylor Drive in Ukiah.
Residential Services
Garbage Collection
- Use gray cart.
- Weekly. Carts to be placed 3 feet apart at curb or road edge.
- Choice of 10, 20, 32, 64 or 96 gallon carts.
- All material must fit inside cart. Lid must close.
Recycling Collection
- Use blue cart.
- Weekly (same day as garbage service). Carts to be placed 3 feet apart at curb or road edge.
- 96 gallon cart provided. All recyclables in same cart.
- Recyclables include newspaper, household paper, magazines, cardboard, food and beverage glass, metal cans, plastic food and beverage containers.
- All material must fit inside cart. Lid must close.
Greenwaste Collection
- Use green cart.
- Weekly (same day as garbage service). Carts to be placed 3 feet apart at curb or road edge.
- 96 gallon cart provided.
- Greenwaste includes lawn clippings, leaves, plant material, branches under 4" in diameter, and small unpainted wood pieces.
- All material must fit inside container.

Garbage Collection
- 2 to 6 cubic yard bins.
- Serviced weekly or multiple times each week.
Recycling Collection
- 2 to 6 cubic yard blue bins or 96 gallon carts (carts require Company approval).
- All recyclables in same blue bin or cart.
- Recyclables include newspaper, packaging paper, stationary, catalogs, magazines, cardboard, metal containers, food or beverage glass, plastic containers (no plastic wrap).
Debris Box Services/Clean-up Bins
- 3 cubic yard cleanup bins available (small household cleanups).
- 15, 20 and 30 cubic yard roll-off bin available for remodel, construction, landscape tear-out, and large clean ups.
- Discounts offered for debris boxes containing only 'clean recyclables' such as cardboard, glass and appropriate plastics.
- Discounts also offered for debris boxes containing segregated recyclables such as wood, greenwaste, metal, concrete, and asphalt.
Billing
- Residential customers are billed by the City of Ukiah.
- Commercial and multifamily customers are billed directly by Ukiah Waste Solutions each month. Bills are due and payable within 45 days from date of invoice. Commercial customers may pay by check, cash or credit card. Online billing is now available in the payments section.
Holiday Schedule
In Ukiah, no collections are made on

New Year's Day.
Waste Audits for Business
We can visit your business to assess your waste stream and determine whether more material can be recycled. We can help you design employee training to maximize recycling. More recycling may result in a reduction in your garbage bill. Call us to schedule an on-site visit.
Community Education and Outreach
- We are available to make presentations to civic organizations and groups that would like to know more about leading-edge solutions in managing solid waste and maximizing diversion from landfilling.
- We are available for classroom presentations in schools. Our children hold the key to maintaining and developing sustainable waste solutions of the future.

Walk-In service
Customers may choose to have route collectors walk-in their driveway or backyard instead of rolling carts to the curb or roadway edge. A fee for this service is charged. Call to make arrangements.
Hazardous and Universal Waste
Hazardous Waste and Universal Waste is strictly prohibited in all garbage carts, recycle carts, greenwaste carts or debris boxes. This includes all paints, thinners, pesticides, motor oil, fluorescent tubes and electronics such as televisions, monitors, and VCRs.

Drop-Off Recycling
Residents and businesses in Ukiah can deliver large volumes of recyclables or large item recyclable materials to the Solid Waste Systems Transfer Station at 3151 Taylor Drive, Ukiah. The Transfer Station accepts greenwaste, wood, appliances and tires for a fee. Other recyclables such as metal, oil, oil filters, household electronics (televisions, computers, computer monitors, printers, etc.) automobile and household batteries are accepted free of charge. Common recyclables such as paper, magazines, cardboard and glass or plastic food and beverage containers are also accepted free of charge. Hours of operation are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday. The Transfer Station can be reached by calling (707) 234-6410.
Buy Back Recycling
Beverage containers qualifying for California Redemption Value (CRV) can be redeemed at the State-certified Redemption Center located at the Transfer Station. Checks are issued for redemption material. Hours of operation are 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
